A buddy once asked me if there was a wine bar with beer, a pool table, TVs, outdoor seating, and is over 100 years old.

Okay she didn’t ask the last part.

But Shotwell’s checks all the boxes.

Wine, beer and cider only. No food, but burrito’s grow on trees in the Mission, so bring one in.

Nobody’s going to stop you.

The Mission has plenty of places trying to be the coolest bar in the neighborhood. Shotwell’s quietly avoids the conversation.

I’ve never walked in here and thought, “This place is dead.”

I’ve also never walked in and thought, “I’m never getting a seat.”

That’s a pretty nice balance.

Some bars feel like an event.

Shotwell’s feels like your neighborhood.
