Mad Dog is Superman.

Everybody has their favorite. I refuse to choose.

This is a Good Bar.

Mad Dog has been holding down Haight Street for years. They moved from Lower to Upper Haight in COVID, and I had my concerns. I forget what they were because this place rocks.

Come in at 10:00 AM on a weekend and you’ll find soccer fans packed on one side, football fans on the other. Right in the middle is someone quietly eating breakfast, amazed that everyone is getting along.

Speaking of breakfast, they have it. As well as a full food menu that is surprisingly very good. The owners must be aware that people spend the entire day here, so food is a good idea.

Then there’s the Guinness.

Order one.

Actually, order two.

I truly don’t know why other sports bars can’t be like this.

  • Loud enough to feel alive. Friendly enough to meet somebody new.

  • A proper Guinness. You knew that already.
